Functionality
Chinese OS for Palm is a small program which provides your Palm devices
with Chinese input and display capability. Not being merely a Chinese editor,
Chinese OS for Palm enables you to
input and display Chinese in MemoPad, AddressBook, Doc, DateBook, etc.
Apart from reading Chinese documents (eg.
Chinese novels), you can enter
Chinese characters by ChangJei, Easy, PinYin, Ju Yin and Cantonese input methods.
Even more, the OS allows you to define a customized database with which you could
build your own input method.
Input methods
Chinese OS for Palm now supports five major input methods, listed in
the order they became available.

- Cantonese
- Easy
- PinYin
- JuYin
Supported Fonts
Chinese OS for Palm supports BIG-5 and GB encoding methods, as well as
Full and Light versions.
BIG-5 (traditional fonts ÁcÅé) is used mostly in Hongkong and Taiwan while
GB (simplified fonts ²Åé) is used in the PRC.
Full version contains a more complete set of characters than light version, and
therefore also more memory. As for BIG-5 encoding, the Full version contains 13084
characters while the Light version contains 5401 characters. As for GB encoding,
the Full version contains 5264 while the Light version contains only 2256 characters.
According to statistics, two to three thousand characters are commonly used in most
Chinese publications. Users are advised to select one of the four resulting font
sets depending on their own needs.
